Preparing For The Photographer

Below is a quick guide on things my photographers would like to have you complete before their arrival. IMPORTANT: I will do a pre-photography consultation with you regarding staging and decluttering before the photographer is booked.

Real Estate Photography Checklist

The photographs of your home are the most important tool used in marketing the property and making a great first impression. Completing this checklist before the photographer arrives makes the process go smoothly and quickly. Please use this checklist to help you prepare your home for that crucial first impression.

___ Turn on all lamps and overhead lighting in the home.
___ Replace all missing or burnt out light bulbs.
___ Open all blinds to the midway point of the windows.
___ Hide all remote controls.
___ Move cords out of site (lamp, extension, computer, etc.).
___ Remove all personal photos.
___ Stop all ceiling fans.
___ Clear home office of all clutter. Box up loose papers.
___ Remove all items out of the shower and bath.
___ Remove all items from the bathroom counter tops.
___ Close the lids to all toilets.
___ Remove all floor mats and area rugs in the bathrooms and kitchen.
___ Clear all items off bedside tables.
___ Avoid hiding items under beds. They will be seen in the photograph.
___ For your family’s safety, remove children’s names from their bedroom. The image of their room will be posted on the MLS and possibly elsewhere on the internet, and for safety reasons, the public should not know your address and children’s names.
___ Be sure any pets are contained in an area of the house that will not be photographed (garage or utility room).
___ Remove any signs that you have pets (crates, food and water bowls, litter box, etc.).
___ Remove all dishes from the sink.
___ Remove all appliances and clutter from kitchen counters.
___ Remove all magnets and items off the surface of the refrigerator.
___ Move any cars that are in the driveway down the street or in the garage.
___ Move outside trashcans and hoses to the garage.
___ Cut the grass and spruce up landscaping.
